There is something interesting when you move like we do…you constantly feel like you are starting over. Sometimes this can be full of fun and excitement and sometimes it is just plan hard. A few of our stops on this journey have been as short as 12-18 months. While we didn’t put down roots we did have enough time to make friends. That is always the hardest part of moving is leaving the people who have become important in your life. I wouldn’t trade this crazy adventure for the wonderful memories and friends I have made along the way. But let’s face it moving is hard.
So again this fall we found ourselves moving. While this was a great opportunity it brought many challenges. In any transition there is time that we are in temporary housing. Wow- what a challenge that can be. We have been in tiny apartments, nicely appointed town houses and even in an extended stay hotel (8 weeks in a hotel is not pretty…trust me). This move was no different. Here we are husband, little boy and old dog in an apartment. I am thankful for a roof over our heads – especially on these cold snowy days. But I am missing the comforts of home.
While I am anxious to move on to the next house I will have to wait. Husband has decided it is time to stop the moving and settle down. He tells me it is time to plant roots. Not sure what that looks like but I am looking forward to finding out! For our family a new journey begins with a twist. Instead of buying a house and fixing it to try to make it ours we will be building our home. Even for a designer the prospect of building can be daunting but here goes nothing!
Here is the beautiful property we just purchased. I love all the trees and can’t wait to get started. Since we are in this cold, snowy place we will have to wait till the Spring. But no worries there is plenty for this designer to do in the months to come.
It will be a crazy and exciting and tiring process but worth it in the end. I can’t wait to share this journey with you. I hope to answer some of your questions along the way and share some insights to avoid common mistakes. Will you join me on this crazy journey? Do you have any questions? Let me know and I will do my best to cover them in upcoming posts.
I will be so glad when I can finally say I am home again.
